Our Story
Where OCHADPAF Comes From
OCHADPAF, One on One Complete Health and Disease Prevention in Africa Foundation, was born from a simple, painful truth: the communities we come from in Kenya do not have access to the healthcare that can save their lives.
Our founder, Grace G. Kamau, has spent over 22 years working as a nurse in the United States health system. She has cared for patients in crisis. She has seen what modern medicine can do, and she has never stopped thinking about home.
In Kilifi County, Kenya, where OCHADPAF begins, 66.7% of people live below the poverty line. There are mothers who have never had an ultrasound. Fathers managing chronic injuries without a single X-ray. Women surviving trauma with no access to counseling. Children who have never been vaccinated.
OCHADPAF is the answer Grace built. Not from the outside looking in, but from within the community, with the community, for the community.

Complete Health — because we treat the whole person. Physical health, mental health, maternal health, chronic disease, preventive care — all of it matters. None of it is separate.
Disease Prevention — because the best care is the care people never need. We screen, we educate, we vaccinate, and we empower communities to stop disease before it starts.

Grace G. Kamau is a Registered Nurse (RN), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 22 years of experience working within US health systems. She is currently deepening her expertise in preventive medicine, the discipline she believes holds the greatest potential for transforming health outcomes in Africa.
As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Grace brings deep expertise in cardiovascular health, critical illness, and complex patient management. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she brings clinical skills in psychiatric care, trauma-informed practice, and mental health, expertise almost entirely absent in communities like Kilifi.
As a mother of two, she brings something no credential can capture: the knowledge of what it means to want a safe, healthy future for your children, and the determination to build one.

To reduce the burden of disease, one village at a time, through preventive medicine, community empowerment, sustainable healthcare solutions, and one-on-one care for both communicable and non-communicable diseases across Africa.
Our Model
We go into the village. We listen. We serve. We train the people who live there to care for each other. We leave behind capacity, not dependency. Then we move to the next village.
Our Promise
No patient is ever turned away. Those who cannot afford care receive it free. Those who can pay do so at rates far below private hospitals. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and we will never treat it as anything less.
Why OCHADPAF Is Different
An Organization That Builds from Within
Many health organizations arrive in African communities with outside solutions. OCHADPAF is different in three fundamental ways.
We Are from the Community
Our founder and directors grew up connected to the communities we serve. We understand the language, the culture, the roads, and the reality. We do not study these communities, we are part of them.
We Build Capacity, Not Dependency
We train the people who live in the village to care for their own community. When we move to the next village, we leave behind knowledge, skills, and a healthier community that can sustain itself.
We Treat the Whole Person
Physical health, mental health, maternal care, chronic disease, trauma support, all under one roof. Because a person is not a diagnosis. They are a whole human being, and they deserve complete care.

"I have spent 22 years as a nurse in the United States. I have worked in intensive care units, in cardiac surgery, in psychiatric wards. I know what it looks like when someone gets the care they need. And I know, I have always known, that the people I grew up with in Kenya deserve that same care."
